Day 13 ~ "Weekly Yum" at Essex

Essex Restaurant (120 Essex Street) is located at the end corner of Essex Market in LES, which in itself a food lover's paradise.

I have been at Essex with Aimee for the oysters ($1 each!). But, haven't tried the ceviche yet -but here is Aimee's description:

The lemon - limey sourness is well balanced by the ripe, juicy manjo. The fish is so tender and the cilantro gives the ceviche a vibrant and zesty kick that wakes up your senses! It's served with hand made chips - warm and crispy.

A great deal for $8.00.... Next time Aimee - we're getting the oysters and the ceviche!

Day 12 ~ Team Gallery ...Sunday Hop of the Week

Went to Soho this past week and happened upon Ryan McGinley's two shows at Team Gallery. I knew I was in for a treat and was ready to be impressed. The first show, Animals (at 83 Grand Street) comprised of studio portraits of nude models with live animals, possessed a real sense of humor, as well as something I can only describe as uncomfortable. I loved it!

The second show - Grids (at 47 Wooster)
was a completely different experience.
These photographs focused on close ups of concert fans
- young and full of all kinds of emotion.
Loved this one too!

Day 11 ~ Photog of the Month ~ Brian Dorfmann

Here is the first installment of Photog of the Month ~ Brian Dorfmann.

I have known Brian since I was 14 - yeah it was a long time ago. Now, Brian is a mentor, inspiration and more importantly my friend!

The other day I asked Brian to describe his photographs in one word - it didn't take long for him to respond and then blew me away by saying "relationships". Yes - relationships in so many ways!

I love the way Brian photographs people in what he calls "peoplescapes"...

Take a look...

I am constantly,
pleasantly surprised at the colors I find
even in garbage containers ...
